Alien vs Predator - The Alien vs Predator hyped was started in 1990's when the props people accidentally put an Alien skull in the mother ship of the Predators in the film, Predator 2. They did it because they taught that it would be fun. But what they did had caused a strong cult following. It depicted that the Predator had encounter the Alien species before and hunt them as well. It also spawn the comic books, novels, a series of video games and two films based on the two entity.There is been a lot of video game based on the movie individually. During the 90's, the most memorable game was the Alien 3 video game on the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) system and the Alien Trilogy on the PlayStation and PC. Unfortunately, Predator game was out of reach and there were no decent Predator game during that time. If you think that the Alien vs Predator video game on the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox360 was the first AvP game you ever played, well, you missed a lot during the 90's. There were quite a few video game based on it. Below are the most memorable one:
Alien vs Predator (Arcade) by Capcom
An arcade game that is consider to be a brawler and fighting game. Much like Street of Rage. Unluckily, we never get a hand of this arcade game in Brunei. But what I know is that this game features two Predators and two cyborg who is fighting a horde of Aliens.
Alien vs Predator (Jaguar)
This is the first 64-bit video game that features the Alien vs Predator franchise. The grandfather of AvP shooter. Based on the same concept as Doom but with a wonderful twist where you can actually play as three of the fighting faction: Alien, Marine and Predator. Although the technology was still a bit Doom-ish but the concept was rather awesome. The concept that followed by its spiritual successor on the PC and future generation console.

Following the success of Half-Life
on the PC, the late 90's were filled with exciting FPS video game. Title such as Quake
2 and Star Wars Jedi Knight was installed on every Pentium PC during that day. It also gives way for video card maker to develop high resolution, high textured and anti-aliasing capability to bring depth to the whole gaming experience. But nothing could be better when Alien vs Predator were joining those ranks of FPS shooter. This game were praised and were given a good highlight during that time. And this game was created by those guy who created the new game based on the same title on the Xbox360, PlayStation 3 and PC - Rebellion. It also spawn it successor, Alien vs Predator 2 and its sequel, Primal Hunt but was developed by different studios.

Then in the early 2000's, RTS (real time strategy) was the scene in the video gaming world. Video game such as Warcraft III

: Tiberian Sun and Command and Conquer Red Alert
2 was my most favorite game of all time. But all those video games were a hit on the PC but never for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Then came Alien vs Predator: Extinction. At first, I thought this game would be another FPS game but to my surprised, it was a RTS video game instead. And I am a real fan of RTS genre.

It is fun but for a while. Soon you realize that this game is repetitive and lack the attention in the mission area. But the character classes were really impressive especially when playing the Aliens side. I do wish they will remake this game into a more better game like LoTR: Battle for Middle-Earth. EA are you interested??

I know that video game that based on a bad movie is bad video game itself. So does this title. Although there are a few video game of Alien vs Predator on the mobile phone and Nintendo Gameboy (AvP: Last of His Clan) but thinking of having a video game that sounded so cool maybe a bit sound absurd.
I have not played this game before but I know that it is also a mediocre video game. According to IGN, the game is repetitive and the charm is gone once you played a few level after that. The worst part is that you do not get the chance to play as different faction as you can only play as the lone Predator. So if you are thinking of buying this game on the PlayStation Portable, then you should better be buying Final Fantasy: Dissidia
or other action game that worth your money.

I know there will be a lot of video game based on the Alien and Predator franchise. And there is a rumor that a new movie of Predator will hit the theater soon. If they wanted to make a new movie about Alien vs Predator, make sure it is a future space marine era. And if they wanted to make a new game, make sure it is something that worth our money.
